British Airways owner IAG on Friday unveiled plans to buy 71 long-haul aircraft from Airbus and Boeing , sharing a major fleet expansion across the Atlantic a day after Britain and the U.S. announced a trade deal.

British Airways owner International Consolidated Airlines said it ordered the planes to bolster its long-haul fleet after earnings rose.

British Airways' parent IAG has ordered 32 Boeing Dreamliners and 21 Airbus jets following a new US-UK trade deal that eliminates tariffs on aircraft parts. The $10 billion Boeing deal is seen as a boost to US manufacturing.
