A London-bound Boeing 787-8 passenger jet carrying more than 200 people crashed near an airport in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.It was unclear if there were any casualties, according to an officer at the state police.

Boeing stock fell sharply in premarket trading after an Air India plane crashed in what's thought to be the first such incident involving a 787.

The Air India flight, carrying 242 passengers and crew members, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, en route to London Gatwick.
