Hurricane Melissa brought devastation and death to the Caribbean as it tore through the region as one of the most powerful storms on earth in more than 150 years.

Hurricane Melissa damaged several Caribbean islands and left at least 60 people dead. One family that was trapped in Jamaica is just now getting back home.

Jamaican officials describe harrowing scenes across the island, with more than 32 deaths and 25 communities still marooned.

Crews were still trying to reach people in the country’s southwest region, where landslides and floodwaters devastated more than 30 communities.

The storm will hit Bermuda on Thursday afternoon or evening, after Jamaica faced the devastation from one of the most powerful storms ever recorded.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have donated to relief efforts across the Caribbean following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest Atlantic storms ever recorded. In a statement released through the Archewell Foundation,

CORE, which has previous experience responding to storms in the Caribbean, has deployed air cargo ships of hygiene kits, tarps and essential relief supplies to Jamaica and is preparing to send resources to Haiti. The organization is accepting donations here.
