The club continued what is expected to be a considerable sell-off at the MLB trade deadline by sending outfielder Randal Grichuk to the Kansas City Royals, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. Reportedly going back to the D-backs is relief prospect Andrew Hoffman.
On Saturday, several days ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, they found their guy: The Royals acquired Randal Grichuk from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a young relief pitcher.
After exchanging farewell hugs with his now former D’backs teammates, Grichuk brimmed with anticipation on his way to the airport. He was joining the Royals ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Cleveland Guardians at Kauffman Stadium. He was embarking on a new path.
