SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Mark Vientos laced a two-run double, All-Star lefty David Peterson pitched out of trouble for six effective innings and the New York Mets held off the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Saturday night for their sixth consecutive victory.

Although the Mets won the game, the offense fell back asleep after a big night last night. The Mets left ten men on base and went just 2-11 with runners in scoring position. With three strikeouts, Tyrone Taylor is making the case for the Mets to upgrade at center field before the end of the week.

The Mets offense was quiet through the first four innings on Saturday night, but scored two runs in the fifth, and held on to beat the San Francisco Giants, 2-1
