Marcell Jankovics, a pioneering figure in the history of Hungarian animation, died on Saturday, May 29, the Hungarian Academy of Arts has announced. He was 79. Jankovics was born in Budapest in 1941.

We all watched cartoons or anime as kids, and while most people grew out of it as they got older, many of us held onto that childlike fascination and were inspired to pursue careers in animation.
