The India Meteorological Department has issued alert of heavy rainfall in several Tamil Nadu districts for today, Friday, November 15. The state has been receiving heavy rainfall over the past few days due to an active weather system over the Bay of Bengal.

Due to the heavy rain forecast in Chennai, schools in the city will be closed today, as announced by the district collector.

Chennai rains: A holiday was declared for all the schools in Chennai on Tuesday in light of the heavy rain forecast in several districts of Tamil Nadu. The school closure order was issued by District Collector Rashmi Siddharth Zagade, ANI reported.

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and south Interior Karnataka due to a low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal, expected to last until November 16.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has expected significant rainfall in various districts of Tamil Nadu this week as a result of a meteorological system over the Bay of Bengal.

The India Meteorological Department’s warnings span across coastal regions and deep into Tamil Nadu’s interior. A yellow alert is in place, with heavy rains spreading through the week across 17 districts by mid-November.

Schools in the Tamil Nadu capital will remain closed on November 12 in view of the heavy rain forecast, as per ANI.
