Severe thunderstorms to form, shift eastward across the central US
Severe storms with damaging winds, hail and downpours will track toward part of Appalachians later this weekend, threatening travel, outdoor plans and sporadic power outages.

Starting on the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 13, a storm system originating in the Pacific Northwest will move south into SLO County, resulting in heavy rain, gusty winds and, possibly, claps of thunder, according to the National Weather Service. Flash flooding is possible in parts of the county.
About 2 to 4 inches of rain will be common near and north of where the storm comes ashore. Some places may see as much as 6 inches.

Multiple warnings issued as severe weather hits Utah
A High Wind Warning is in effect for Utah Valley, including Payson, Provo, and Lehi. Northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts in excess of 60 mph are expected. The warning is also in effect for Salt Lake Valley, including Salt Lake City, Sandy, and West Jordan.
