The missile was intercepted by Israeli air defence systems, but it reportedly impacted areas around the city of Bnei Brak and nearby towns. Initial assessments suggest it may have been a cluster-type warhead, designed to disperse multiple smaller explosives over a wide area.
The Israeli military said it intercepted two drones fired from Yemen overnight. Yemen’s Houthi rebels joined the war on Saturday and have been firing at Israel since. The Houthis had previously held out joining the current conflict.
An Israeli drone strike on a car in southern Lebanon killed a Hezbollah commander, the militant group confirmed in a statement.
