The Cardinals placed Nolan Arenado on the IL with a shoulder strain after the trade deadline, following weeks of struggles at the plate.

One day after the Cardinals couldn't find a taker for Nolan Arenado, St. Louis placed the veteran third baseman on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain. Arenado had sought a deal prior to the season but he used his no-trade clause to prevent the team from trading him to the Houston Astros.

However, he wasn't dealt and remained in St. Louis. But, the next day, as Katie Woo of The Athletic reports, the Cardinals are losing Arenado to the injured list with a shoulder issue. He'll go on the 10-day injured list, as Nolan Gorman is activated in his place.
