A Circle K gas station in Avon, Ohio, mistakenly swapped diesel and unleaded fuel, leaving customers with costly car repairs.

BEREA, Ohio — The local Kiwanis Club hosted its first-ever open house on a frigid and snowy mid-January evening. Despite the weather, the event attracted 40 prospective new members, 20 club members and members from the affiliated Circle K, Aktion Club, and Key Clubs.

A week later, a spokesperson from Circle K confirmed that a gas delivery "mistake" was responsible for damaging the customers' cars. In a press release, the company said diesel fuel was erroneously deposited into the wrong underground tank.

The mix-up happened Jan. 19 at the Circle K along Chester Road when diesel fuel was inadvertently poured into the underground storage tank for unleaded gasoline, and vice versa, according to a Monday statement from a Circle K spokesperson.
