Amazon was swept up in the White House's crosshairs Tuesday after the Jeff Bezos-founded retailer reportedly eyed underscoring tariff price changes.

The White House lashed out at Amazon on Tuesday for reportedly planning to display how much of a product’s cost comes from Trump’s tariffs. Doing so would emphasize to consumers that U.S. tariffs are not paid by overseas companies, but by the American companies importing the goods, and then largely passed on to customers.

The White House slammed Amazon for what it called “a hostile and political act,” after a report that the retail giant reportedly plans to display the cost of tariffs next to the price of each product.
