Erin has strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane as of Saturday. It's the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, which officially formed mid-Friday morning. Some Tropical Storm watches remain in effect for parts of the northern Leeward Islands, according to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Erin is forecast to "substantially grow in size" as it moves across the western Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Erin was a Category 2 hurricane in the North Atlantic Ocean late Wednesday Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Erin is the fifth named storm to form in the Atlantic in 2025. Follow our coverage here.
