US President Donald Trump is pushing the bounds of military activity on American soil, but a 150-year-old law could spell trouble for his plans.

A federal judge is hearing arguments on whether military troops deployed this summer by the Trump administration to Los Angeles violated a federal law that bars troops from conducting law enforcement duties within the country.

President Trump mentioned New York, Baltimore, Chicago and other cities as places where he may deploy the National Guard to crack down on crime.
