Plainville Firefighter Ray Moreau was responding to house fire early Sunday morning when he was struck by a piece of equipment, state police said.

Plainville Firefighter Raymond Moreau, 60, was killed after a piece of fire apparatus broke off and struck him, Connecticut State Police Trooper Kate Coney said at a news conference late Sunday afternoon. Moreau was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Coney said.

Raymond "Ray" Alan Moreau, 60, was working at the scene outside near a fire truck, when a piece of the truck broke off and hit him in the leg, state police said.
