SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Sacramento Kings signed former No. 1 overall draft pick Markelle Fultz for the remainder of the season. The team announced the deal with Fultz on Wednesday night as the Kings seek more depth at point guard after recently trading away star De’Aaron Fox.

Over his seven seasons in the NBA, Fultz is averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 47.2% from the field and 27.4% from three. The 26-year-old guard is a solid scorer, defender and playmaker, but he has dealt with a ton of injuries over his career and has also struggled shooting the ball at times.

Fultz, 26, joins Sacramento as their newest point guard after the Fox trade, which netted scorer Zach LaVine and draft compensation. The Kings (27-26) hope Fultz will help their postseason push, as the team currently sits in the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference just before the NBA's All-Star break.
