Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who ran with Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election last year, said he will seek a spot in the U.S. Senate, according to his spokesperson on Wednesday.

The confirmation comes nearly two weeks after Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan announced she will be running for the seat following Sen. Tina Smith’s decision not to seek re-election.

A spokesperson for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday he will not run for the U.S. Senate and will instead explore a third term in his current office.
