The town of Harpswell, Maine raised shark notification flags at Cedar Beach after two documented sightings of great white sharks were reported east of Bailey Island.

Harpswell, a coastal town in southeastern Maine, was the site of Maine’s first deadly shark attack five years ago, which claimed the life of a seasonal resident.

First up is Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, the No. 1 Maine beach according to TripAdvisor. This spot even earned the website's Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Award for 2024, taking the No. 21 spot of best beaches in the entire U.S.
