The Texas Rangers are closing in on acquiring Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Danny Coulombe, a person familiar with the move informed The Dallas Morning News. Bullpen help was the prime target of Thursday’s trade deadline for Texas, and it will now add a left-handed arm that has posted a 1.16 ERA in 40 appearances this season.

The one consistent source of excellent performance by this maddeningly inconsistent Twins team has been the bullpen. The linchpin and leader of that group, diminutive southpaw Danny Coulombe, is now the third member to be traded in the runup to the deadline.
