The proper ceremony will begin at at 8 p.m. ET, with Cynthia Erivo hosting. The “Wicked” star takes over as emcee from Ariana DeBose, who hosted the past three shows. Erivo is a former Tony winner herself, having captured the best actress in a musical prize in 2016 for her turn in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple.

Cynthia Erivo, who starred alongside Ariana Grande in the record-breaking film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” will be hosting this year’s main show. Erivo got her own Tony Award in 2016 for her performance as Celie in “The Color Purple.” She’s also a Grammy and an Emmy winner.
