Hike the Minnesota Valley State Trail or fish the Minnesota River or Gifford Lake. • Shakopee hosts a long stretch of the Minnesota Valley State Trail and has many connecting trails for additional mileage. Park at Memorial or Huber parks in downtown Shakopee.

Jan 7, 2025 · The multi-use Minnesota Valley State Trail parallels the Minnesota River. The section of trail from Shakopee to Chaska is paved and a natural surface trail runs from Chaska to Belle Plaine.

Located along the meandering Minnesota River, the Minnesota River Valley National Scenic Byway is a destination in itself. Close your eyes and image becoming an explorer for a day. The Destinations are your guideposts as you travel through the Minnesota River Valley.

• Carver Rapids/Louisville Swamp offers parking and merges the Minnesota DNR trails with the United States Fish and Wildlife trails. • Gifford/Nyssen Lake combines hiking and fishing all in one loca on. Hike the Minnesota Valley State Trail or fish the Minnesota River or Gifford Lake.

The Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area also preserves part of the Minnesota River Valley. The landscapes along the Recreation area include wetlands, floodplain forest and blufftop oak savanna.
