🦇🎃 Last month, James Duncan (Wilder Communities Officer) led a walk to discover bats at dusk at the Castle Water part of the nature reserve. We had the chance to see Noctules, the largest UK bat, as well as pipistrelles, the smallest. 🔈Sound on to hear a bat! Our hand held bat detectors revealed their echolocation calls, used to hunt insects. Noctules gave a chip-chop call and pipistrelles, a call like a series of clicks. Amazing!
