LEGO The history of LEGO began in 1932 in Billund, Denmark. Its founder, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, was a carpenter who struggled during the Great Depression. As his carpentry work declined and after the death of his wife, Ole searched for a new way to support his children. He began making wooden toys from leftover materials, including the now famous wooden duck.
