The midtarsal adduction test evaluates for cuboid syndrome as a cause of foot pain. The examiner stabilizes the ankle and subtalar joint using the proximal hand. The distal hand then applies a transverse plane adduction force to the forefoot to stress the midtarsal region. A positive test is indicated by reproduction of the patient’s lateral midfoot pain or typical symptoms.
