The future of Alpental looks bright! We’re happy to share that the first two new chairlifts in a series of improvements are already in the works. Sessel will be replaced this summer with a new Doppelmayr fixed-grip triple and crews will begin phase one construction on the new International Chairlift. Coming for the 2023-24 season, the new Sessel triple chairlift will be realigned and extended to create a longer, more interesting descent and provide quick access to the future International Chair.

Load testing complete! 🚡💪 Earlier this week our lift maintenance legends, with support from the Doppelmayr crew, loaded each of Internationale's chairs with water to simulate the maximum weight the lift will carry with passengers. Once fully loaded they tested every system to make sure the new lift operates safely and smoothly at max capacity. Since we don't have water up on the mountain, the team had to haul nearly 4,000 gallons of water up to the base of the chair using tracked dump trucks.

Today was a huge fly day on the lift projects at Alpental, with 100 helicopter trips up and down the mountain hauling materials and concrete to each of our big lift projects. The construction crew flew over 100 yards of concrete. Dropping mud for most of the Sessel tower footings, Sessel’s top terminal footing, and International’s bottom terminal footing. The crew also flew forms, rebar, and gravel to International footing sites so they can prepare for the next pour and fly day on that lift. Tod
