The film used the Vitaphone synchronized sound playback system for music, sound effects, and some singing. The Vitaphone system used large record discs that were mechanically synchronized to the playback of the movie projector. Colleen Moore was a top silent film actress who became known for her flapper image and was one of the highest-paid stars of her era.
